We want to internationalize Openads including the product, forums and documentation but we need your help!
We’ve been talking about this for a while now and we’ve already had offers of help and contributions from the Openads Community. Now we’d like to go further to ensure we provide more complete language support, so we’re asking you to step forward and help out.
There are so many languages that we’d like to cover: Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (both traditional and simplified), Czech, Dutch, French, German, Polish, Russian, Spanish… ze list goes on and on!
Initially, we are going to focus on getting the most popular languages right. We’re also looking to open up new forums where we see enough interest to ensure success.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for Openads then tell us how you would like to help.
So, what are you zinking about? Helping internationalize Openads… we hope so!

Well - If all people improve their english we don’t need translations… - I guess that’s the message of that clip - isn’t it ?

The problme with the english it not with the dev teams in my customers is with users, they are people who grow up without the tech formation and love for the technology like the first world engineers and online advertising community has, they see the web until as a no media area, justa web page, so Posicionarte is improving the Spanish training for our customers, but we really need an spanish tutorial for the both admins and users to spread the world around the newspapers and online magazines here in Latin America with more than 60 millon people reading ads on spanish and 24 millon reading in portuguese in brazil is a interesting market for an ad server solution, please let us know how Posicionarte can provide some suppport to the spanish and english version of Open Ads

Hola Jorge and Kalimera Lazros…
it’s great to hear that you would be willing to help us, please leave us your details on the survey and we’ll be in touch.
Spanish is definitely one of the priority languages, so that we can cater for South/Latin America and Spain, but we sare gathering contacts for all other languages as well.

Mimi Mswahili, nitawasaidia (I am swahili speaking person , I can help)
NOTE Swahili is somewhat of a Southeast African lingua franca with in total about 80 million speakers.

Using accentuated characters (”é”, “ê”, “è”, “ë”, and so on) anywhere leads in wrong display in the administration panel. That makes it difficult to use OpenAds 2.0 with French words (like “publicité” for “advertising”) as labels.
Comment by Martin — August 31, 2007 @ 2:40 pm
Thanks Lazros, I know you’re busy so we’ll need to find some others to help you.
Comment by Oliver George — September 3, 2007 @ 9:47 am
Wow, that would be cool. Thanks Mimi. Do you have any other contacts who could help with the translation work? (make sure anyone who’s interested fills in the form )
Comment by Oliver George — September 3, 2007 @ 9:49 am
Hi Martin
Thanks, we’re working to improve this. Openads will use UTF-8 across the board which will address a lot of the data entry issues. Our French language files aren’t complete either (so Mattieu tells me) so there’s some work to be done here too. Would you be interested in helping out?
cheers, Oliver

For the momment we can’t translate this nice script in Romanian, because we have little free time left, but instead we can offer you a mirror for you’r work on a Romanian server. There you can post whatever you want related to Openads project or other work you made. If you are intrested, contact me on email provided in this comment. Best regards.

Thanks for the kind offer. We’re pretty happy with our hosting arrangement right now. We’ll make sure our websites support multiple languages rather than splitting things up… that sounds quite difficult to maintain.
cheers, Oliver

I’m ready to help with Brazilian Portuguese version. I recently installed version 2.4 and I had the same problem commented by Martin - accentuated characters (”é”, “ê”, “á”, “ã”, and so on). I’m an experienced programmer specialized in translate/localize programs for BR_pt.

Hello,
I can help with the Turkish translation. there are about 100 million speakers. I think that would make a sense.
Comment by Halil Yaman — January 16, 2008 @ 3:09 pm
I did some work on that, i found out loads of caveats, and fixed some. If you would you like to get my french files, they are yours (or the communities’) .. i’d be more than happy to help on that field.

Hi,
Have you any idea about the roadmap to the UTF8 (or any other i18n approach) ?

I am embarking on a project with partners in Mexico on a social networking site with SMS primarily geared toward Spanish speakers. I wish to use openAds for targeted in-message SMS as well. We will be glad to contribute what we can in your efforts toward internationalization of the software.
